About Us

Your partner in residential energy performance

Not a vendor who turns up at the end. We identify issues early, explain the requirements in practical terms, and keep the project moving from plans through final certification.

Diego Miranda

Owner & RESNET® Certified HERS Rater

New England HERS Raters was built around a simple observation: builders do not lose money on the price of a rating. They lose it on the week the job sat still waiting for one.

We work across Massachusetts on new construction, additions, ADUs and low rise multifamily, from base code towns through the roughly sixty municipalities that adopted the net zero ready Specialized Code. The requirements are genuinely different in each, and knowing which applies before the foundation goes in is most of the value we add.

Small operation, direct line, certified signature. You talk to the person who runs the test, not to a dispatcher.

How We Operate

Three things we do not compromise on

We Show Up When We Say

The pre-drywall inspection is not a flexible date. The drywall crew is already booked. Scheduling reliability is the whole job, and we treat a missed window as a failure.

We Tell You Before, Not After

A rater who shows up and fails you has not helped anybody. We walk the job while the assemblies are still open and tell you what is going to miss the number.

We Know Which Code Applies

Massachusetts runs three codes and each municipality picks one. The same house has different requirements in two neighboring towns. That distinction is our job to hold, not yours.

How It Runs

Four points of contact across the build

A single project spans months and at least three site visits. Here is where we come in and what happens at each stage.

01

Permit & Pathway

Before you submit, we confirm which code your town adopted and model the target so the permit set reflects a path that will actually pass.

02

Mass Save Enrollment

If the project qualifies, we register it. This has to happen by the midpoint inspection, which is earlier than most builders expect.

03

Pre-Drywall Inspection

Insulation and air barrier reviewed on site while everything is still open, with a punch list your trades can act on the same day.

04

Final Testing & Report

Blower door and duct leakage in one visit, then the certified report and RESNET registration back in 24 to 48 hours so the CO can move.
